If I Were Alyssa

If I were a rain cloud, I would rain on you.

If I were five years older, I don’t know what I would think of 20-year-old me.

If I were an angel, then I would be perfect.

If I were my journal, I would be confused.

If I were a book, I’d say what I choose.

If I were a piano, I’d want people to play songs all day, and even into the night.

If I were a cat, I’d be Mercy.

If I were a color, I’d ask to be two.

If I were normal, I wouldn’t be Alyssa.

If I were you, I’d join in and say what’s on your mind starting with “If I were”.

Now I would like to take a moment to talk about the picture above.  My sister and I began freelensing today.  Though it risks getting dust in my camera, it is extremely addictive and makes me want to only free lens for the rest of my life. :)  By detaching the lens from the camera, a photographer can tilt or move the lens for a tilt-shift blur or a stronger macro (the latt+er is the most difficult of the two).  Anyway...so Friday you can try to guess which ones I took freelensing. :)  Also, I have a video idea I've been working on.  Maybe I'll get it done sometime soon.

My Fault

  Like I mentioned earlier in my post about rain, I recently learned what I had done to get such terrible resolution on my blog header. Here's the story, with a little lesson attached.
  I used a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop to create my design (Illustrator to create the graphics and Photoshop to assemble everything). I kept on noticing that the graphics looked very pixelated once I put them in Ps. In the past, I had not used Ps for much more than editing photos, so I didn't really know what to do. I finally concluded that it was because I had tried to copy and paste the graphics from Ai. I almost discredited the programs and accused them of not working together as seamlessly as claimed, but I have faith in the Adobe software (Adobe is my hero) and so I accepted the blame.
  I think sometimes we are tempted the same way in our spiritual experience. It is so easy to discredit God or his salvation and sanctification when we don't have the victory we want or we don't understand life. However, faith in God says that He is not the problem, but it is self that messes things up. A little more humility--a little more submission to his will--and victory can be ours. Any time the thought comes that there must be nothing to salvation, that is an indicator that self is becoming too involved in the situation.  God's plan is perfect.  Furthermore, I had to admit that there are amazing artists out there that do great things with Adobe programs.  There are also a "great cloud of witnesses" that can tell us that they were able by the blood of Jesus.  Therefore, let us stay encouraged and never give up our faith in God.

Photography Friday

This has been a busy week, but my camera was not completely neglected, as you can see.  I took pictures of our vegetable garden, but it looked so much better after it was tilled that I decided to wait on those.

There's a story behind this one.  My space bar has been sticking for quite a while, so between my sister and me,  we decided to pop it off to see if there was something under there.  After it was off, we discovered it was a little more complicated than her keys that could simply pop back on.  I eventually got it back on right and felt pretty proud of my little technical/mechanical skills.  But...thespacebarstillsticks... which makes typing very slow.
