Inspiration From Nature

Keep on Flowing

Though a rock may be before you, like the river, you can still find a way. A beautiful way.

The Wild Blossoms

You may not know what they are, the world may not value them, but to you, they are beautiful. What are they?

Sky on Earth

Why is the water blue?
Water, as a great looking glass, is reflecting the beautiful sky.
What are you reflecting?

Alyssa

Life in Seasons

I saw a small footprint in the mud and was reminded that little children make a big mark on this world.

I saw a fort built of snow and plywood and was reminded that adults pass traditions down to the young.

I saw an elderly lady wishing to go out in the cold and was reminded that footprints fade, and snow-forts melt.

I saw a tiny flower and was reminded that all goes on.

Alyssa

Do You See Beauty?

Do you see beauty in the small things?
The hard things?
The uncomfortable things?

Water drops are small,
And frozen hard.
The limbs creak and bend
Under the unwanted weight.

But the sun still shines.
Can we see the beauty in it?

Each frozen water drop
Reflects a small image
Of the sun that warms the Earth.

Alyssa

Beautiful Creatures

I guess taking pictures of these beautiful creatures
has become a sort of--
connection?
--for me.
It's kind of my way of "smelling the roses."
So many things are on the computer.
Things are busy.
There are due dates.
There are schedules.
There are responsibilities.
And then there is creation,
Just standing there,
Looking beautiful.

Alyssa

Through Seasons' Change

I love the seasons and the beauty that each one brings.
The changing seasons bring new hues,
but our Heavenly Father, always the same,
brings hope.

This is one of my first attempts using the mixer brush in Photoshop.  Kind of cool, I guess. :)

Moon Love

I was inspired again by the night sky.  (remember my illustration of the Milky Way?)  These are both Photoshop illustrations of the moon.

The amber ring:

The white rainbow:

Have you noticed these in the sky before?  Did I illustrate them acurately?  By the way, these are not technical terms.  I don't know what they are actually called.  I would love to know more about why or how these appear in the sky.

Blessings,
Alyssa

Photography Friday

This is just a guess, but I will probably be posting lots of pictures in the future.  I told my Facebook friends that they would have to put up with me for a few years until I got over the excitement of having a camera.  So...maybe I should limit myself to one photography blog a week.  How about Photography Friday?  I wish I were that excited about sketching everything I see.  I've tried to start sketching more, now that I am out of school, but I tend to spend more time with my camera (should I name my camera?  Suggestions anyone?) and Adobe (Camera Raw, Photoshop, and  Illustrator).  However, I still can't wait until I can get my hands back in some clay.  I think school has helped me develop my interests more.  I should keep making time for drawing and painting, though, because I feel like it is an extremely valuable an asset to creative work.

...hmm.  and a sculpture.  I should do another sculpture this summer--maybe another wire lamp?

I created that pattern inspired by some old English ceramic that I saw in a museum.

I like the colors and layers in this one, but...

...I like the original too.

I have some trips to antique shops and flea markets in mind because I love pictures of old vintage things.  I also want to take some drives out in the country just to "see what I can see."

Blessings,
Alyssa

Wild and Wonderful?

As explained in my last post, I was blessed to be able to attend a camp meeting in WV.  I heard one girl say that it was wild maybe, but not wonderful.  What do you think?  Wild? Wonderful? Or both?

My signature window picture
I'm the type of person that takes pictures of weeds...
...and peeling paint
Just a view from the front lawn
On top of Snowshoe Mt.

I enjoyed my trip: getting to know my camera, meeting new people, and soaking up some spiritual blessings.  God is so good.

Blessings,
Alyssa
