Photography Friday

Passion Flower
I found this flower growing wild at church.  I had never seen it before, but apparently it is a passion flower.

twigs and stuff
Yes, I have a little collection on my desk. :)

oragano, pepper, basil, garlic powder
Greek food! Greek food! :)

spices, garlic, lemon
I made Greek gyros with homemade beef gyro meat, then a Greek salad dressing for a "house salad."
Here's the recipes (except I messed up on the dressing and put lemon and vinegar in it--very strong!)

I love our little garden (as you can tell by how frequently I take pictures of it.)

I'm looking forward to enjoying my Labor Day Weekend.  I hope you all do too!

Photography Friday

This has been a busy week, but my camera was not completely neglected, as you can see.  I took pictures of our vegetable garden, but it looked so much better after it was tilled that I decided to wait on those.

There's a story behind this one.  My space bar has been sticking for quite a while, so between my sister and me,  we decided to pop it off to see if there was something under there.  After it was off, we discovered it was a little more complicated than her keys that could simply pop back on.  I eventually got it back on right and felt pretty proud of my little technical/mechanical skills.  But...thespacebarstillsticks... which makes typing very slow.

Our lovely piano. Bare.

Have a lovely Friday!

Blessings,
Alyssa

Photography Friday

This is just a guess, but I will probably be posting lots of pictures in the future.  I told my Facebook friends that they would have to put up with me for a few years until I got over the excitement of having a camera.  So...maybe I should limit myself to one photography blog a week.  How about Photography Friday?  I wish I were that excited about sketching everything I see.  I've tried to start sketching more, now that I am out of school, but I tend to spend more time with my camera (should I name my camera?  Suggestions anyone?) and Adobe (Camera Raw, Photoshop, and  Illustrator).  However, I still can't wait until I can get my hands back in some clay.  I think school has helped me develop my interests more.  I should keep making time for drawing and painting, though, because I feel like it is an extremely valuable an asset to creative work.

...hmm.  and a sculpture.  I should do another sculpture this summer--maybe another wire lamp?

I created that pattern inspired by some old English ceramic that I saw in a museum.

I like the colors and layers in this one, but...

...I like the original too.

I have some trips to antique shops and flea markets in mind because I love pictures of old vintage things.  I also want to take some drives out in the country just to "see what I can see."

Blessings,
Alyssa

Various Summer Scenes and Happenings

Hi everyone!  I've been enjoying my summer already!  First of all, I found my camera all because I finally had time to do some sewing.  It was sitting snugly under the fabric I had cut out to sew a shirt.  How it got there, I don't know, but I'm happy I found it.  (so be warned, this post is full of pictures)  Secondly, I graduated from college with my AA in Art and Design.  Thirdly, I went on a miniature vacation with my sister where we visited my grandma and a new friend we met last summer.  Lastly, I finally designed a watermark for my pictures--it's simple, unique, and not distracting.  I like it. :)

Enjoy your summer!

Oh, and one more thing:  I listened to this message today as I did laundry.  The minister, Bro. Bob S., is encouraging us all to take time to study the Bible and "get excited" about learning about God's word.  I must say, it has inspired me to study more.

Blessings,
Alyssa
